  • When it comes to capacities and capabilities, the Subaru Outback has a lot more to offer where it counts, with up to 101 cubic feet of passenger volume, about 21 cubic feet of cargo volume and a 1,500-pound towing capacity. Whereas, the Mazda CX-3 has about 88 cubic feet for passengers, 12 cubic feet for cargo and no towing capacity as this SUV is not recommended for towing.

The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek vs The 2018 Jeep Renegade

  • While both of these vehicles are considered excellent options for the great outdoors, the Subaru Crosstrek has a lot more traction to offer thanks to the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive System and limited slip differential, which prevents excess engine power and torquer from being redirected to one wheel. The Jeep Renegade does come available in all-wheel drive but does not feature limited slip differential, thus, its all-wheel drive system might not be as effective.
  • As with any Subaru Models, the Subaru Crosstrek is a 2018 Top Safety Pick by the Insurance institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) with "Good" ratings in most categories including front crash prevention, headlight strength and roof strength. The Jeep Renegade did not make the Top Safety Pick list and received much lower ratings in front crash prevention and headlight effectiveness, though its roof strength also received a "Good" rating.
  • The Subaru Crosstrek has a lot more fuel efficiency to contribute and gains an EPA-estimated 27 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway with a fuel capacity of 16.6 gallons. Whereas the Jeep renegade gains and EPA-estimated 24 miles per gallon in the city, 31 miles per gallon the highway with a fuel capacity of 12.7 gallons.
  • Finally, the Subaru Crosstrek has a few extra features that come standard in all trim levels, including the base, such as heated front seats, automatic climate control, a CD player, front fog lights and a roof rack. All of these features are either absent from the base trim level of the Jeep Renegade or are absent from the SUV in general.
